“I Love my Job”
July 22, 2008 | Filed Under Announcement, Gibberish, Observation, Rough Times, Thoughts, Work | 3 Comments
Only a few days of lazily written entries and I noticed that my stats have dropped drastically. I guess this is the price to pay when I had decided that this blog become my (amateur) photography cum personal life cum ranting space (not a very good mix when not done properly). But I really shouldn’t complain, as I still have loyal readers who comment on my postings on a frequent basis such as Hwey and Deng, Shan, Feng, Jason, ehon, Clem, Neo and even Lilian. Thanks guys for keeping me motivated to continue blogging on a not-so-daily basis.
Another day, another entry for me to ramble on about my job. Pardon the misleading title of this post, I am merely restating what my colleagues have been saying about me (without my knowledge, of course) - “He seem to really love this job”.
I would have taken it as a compliment, but knowing that people are actually saying it behind my back, this goes to show that it is being seen as a negative thing. Only people like Shan (a manager in the food industry) would probably see it in a positive light, I guess. But why on mother Earth would your colleagues who are supposedly your friends see such a thing as something negative? Are they in fear of their job security, that I will “rob” them of their positions with my supposed “passion” for my job? Or perhaps being such a person with a positive, cheery mood at work puts them off to bad mood?
I had proposed a couple of solutions for myself to tackle this new-found problem at work that I’m facing:
- The Reversal Method
- Title says it all: Reversing my positive, cheery facade and channeling all my negative aura to my face. This method has yet to be tested and probability of success is unknown, but chances of losing my job is exponentially increased with more negative aura. Although I am very much tempted to test this method, I dare not risk my sole income at this stage in time. - The IgnoRaythod™
- I’m sure many have heard of the phrase, “Ignorance is bliss”. This is an example of when you can apply this method. It has been tested and the probability of success is high. Chances of losing my job is on all-time low and chances of promotion is all-time high. - And more.
As to the statement of where I “love” my job, I hereby openly announce to the whole world that I really, really, really hate my job despite the cheery, positive facade that I have been putting on. The reasons of such dedication and positive outlook for me at work is:
- Money
- (Fun) Colleagues/Manager (notice the singularity) who can share stories and let me see the real them.
and last but not least,
- Money
Think about it - why would a perfectly normal person like you and me love a job which you only earn enough to survive on (weekly), and still isn’t enough for yourself to lead a completely liveable life by yourself, more to say your other half? One cannot simply judge another by how they carry themself, anywhere. Just because I’m good with appearing happy doesn’t necessarily imply that I’m a happy person. It’s akin saying that your cat is horny when it rubs itself against you. No, your cat is not horny. You are the horny one to suggest such implication on it.
In short to this lengthy rambling, mind your own fucking business while I mind mine.
Thanks for reading and have a good week while I continue slaving myself for more moolahs to pay off my bills, cars, uni books/carpark, and life

Bummer

There are more and more work colleagues in my Facebook profile, and I actually went on to add a few more a while ago. Looks like I’ll have to cut down on my workplace ramblings from now onwards or start a new censoring method just like Malaysia’s censorship (ie. heavy) before the people I bitch about gets me I get into trouble at work.
Heck, even one of the managers have a Facebook account! What has come to the world today?
Have a great weekend guys.
p.s. NO, I did not add the manager.

Ins and Outs
July 13, 2008 | Filed Under Observation, Rough Times, Thoughts, Work | 3 Comments
It’s been a while since my last wordy post. I’m physically and emotionally exhausted (from work, specifically) as I type this, but somehow I just needed the ranting space. Of course, being a blogger, the natural abode to rant is the blog - and so this rant is of existence.
Work has been taking up most of my social and personal life. My weeks have been filled with painfully long hours, pain-in-the-ass customers, unforgiving managers, and hi-bye colleagues. Money has been flowing in and out, with obviously more outs than ins.
Of course, being on a long holiday, the natural thing to do would be to work and work more, with the thought that by working more, the outs will be hopefully reduced and more ins will be allowed that will hopefully allow me to save up for a trip next year, or perhaps even for emergency use when the need arises.
Of course, if things had been going as planned, this blog entry wouldn’t be of existence.
With reference to the pain-in-the-ass customers, sometimes, I wish I could shove my fist into the customers’ face who deserve the fist. Examples:
- The type of customers that stands at the (salad/dessert) bar, that puts their hands on their hips whilst waiting for their food with the face that says, punch me, and when the food is finally placed in front of their face, a simple word of gratitude is not uttered from their foul mouth, but more whining instead.
- The type of customers that are at least twice your age but has a mentality of someone below 12. This can be seen from angry customers who seem to be constantly shouting at you, who requires extra loving care and attention, the type of tender loving care from Raymond Chan himself - a fist to his/her face.
- And more
Unfortunately, I am still needing this job to make sure I have adequate ins to compensate for the outs that I cannot seem to control, no matter how hard I try. So you have a great weekend while I slave away to earn my ins that will eventually be outs on the same day it goes in.

Kung Fu Panda
June 29, 2008 | Filed Under L, Movies, Observation | 6 Comments

This is a review of Kung Fu Panda that L and myself had watched in Hoyts Cinema on Thursday. Unlike Malaysia, it was surprisingly easy to get the tickets for the movie although it was the opening day. Seatings are self-picked here, so there is no need to buy the tickets early for the best seats.
If you are still living in your cave, Kung Fu Panda is an animation action/comedy which was released this year in June. The movie as good as the reviews say it is; funny, action-packed, cute, educational. For an animation that runs 92 minutes, the movie is not too long that your bladder would explode nor is too short that your popcorn is not finished by the end of the movie. The run-time is just right.
One thing that caught my attention when the credits roll is that the voiceover was mainly by famous “celebrities”. Some names that caught my attention - Jack Black as Po (the Panda), Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu and Michael Clarke Ducan. It is really surprising to see the huge list of “celebrities” who are actually behind the voice. Not that I would get it, but I reckon that with an animation like this, who really cares about the voice behind the characters? Well, I personally don’t.
There is really no need for me to go through the plot as I’m sure you would have probably seen the trailer somewhere. Anyway, L seemed to have enjoyed herself thoroughly, laughing hysterically and not even noticing me coughing my lungs out when I er.. sorta choked on a popcorn for laughing too hard. Okay, you can stop laughing now.
To conclude, Kung Fu Panda was probably one of the few movies that I actually felt was worth my money watching on the big screens in Perth since I got here since end of 2006. Make sure this movie is in your must-see movies list this year if you haven’t watched it already.
I give Kung Fu Panda a highly recommended rating of 8.5/10.

Detailed Observations From Church
May 18, 2008 | Filed Under Observation, Thoughts | 4 Comments
1. There is a loud (and I mean LOUD, OBNOXIOUS) old lady who seemed to be begging for somebody to gag her with their smelly socks every Sunday evening during mass when she sings so frigging loud (more like wailing), overpowering every single person in the church, not excluding the one with the microphones.
2. There was a prayer for all the seniors today, and all senior members of the parish was requested to stand up while everyone else recites the prayer. There are numerous senior members (fully white-haired men and women), sitting down on their asses scratching their balls while every other senior members remained standing during the prayer. Thick-skinned.
3. There were kids wailing out loud (this one’s for real, unlike number 1) from the back of the church, and the parents did nothing to control the child. I honestly wanted to yell out STFU while giving them the killer-stare, but I was seated too far away from them.
Three is enough to disrupt my concentration in mass. God bless you.
