WA Youth Jazz Orchestra 2012 | City of Vincent Summer Concerts 2012 ‘Live in the Park’

I happened to be in Hyde Park on Sunday after my street photography session to have a little solo photowalk and found out that WA Youth Jazz Orchestra’s 2012 ensemble was performing for the City of Vincent’s Summer Concerts 2012 ‘Live in the Park’.

There were easily hundreds of people with their picnic baskets, all sitting down with their family and friends enjoying the brilliant performance from the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. I personally enjoyed the concert and I’m sure everybody else had a great time too.

I seized the opportunity and quickly snapped away and got these shots:

I love how some of the audience came to the front of the stage and started dancing away.

Have a great weekend ahead everyone!

Street Photography Perth, WA | 2012

I finally managed to head out to the city for my first street photography session of 2012.

Like any form of photography, street photography requires practice and committment but as much as I love street photography, I have to honestly say that I haven’t really done much street photography since my recent trip to Malaysia.

Armed with my new 70-200, it definitely wasn’t the preferred choice of lens for street photography due to its size and weight, but I think I pulled it off.

There has just been so much going on since I got back to Perth and I’m in the process of preparing myself for a couple of weddings next month, including my first international wedding photography assignment.

More details and a proper announcement to come in February, after Alicia & Reece’s wedding!

Anyhow, here are some photos for your viewing pleasure:

New Year 2012 | Northbridge

This post is a little bit overdue, but in this entry, I will be posting up some photos that I have taken from the New Year 2012 celebrations in Northbridge, Perth.

Perhaps it’s just me, but the New Year celebrations in Perth this year just wasn’t quite as entertaining compared to last year.

Nevertheless, here are some selected photos of the performances from the evening taken with my new Nikon 70-200mm lens.

I hope you’ve all had a great new year and thanks for reading!

Travel | Singapore, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching

I have finally finished editing the second part of our travel photos in December and here are some 30 travel photos taken in Singapore, Kota Kinabalu (islands) and Kuching (Damai/Santubong Resorts).

The photos in this post are mostly landscapes with lots of blue skies and beaches and a couple of photojournalism shots as I unfortunately caught a fever during my stay in KK which got progressively worse in Kuching, so the photos were mainly taken whilst recuperating in the islands in KK and Damai resort in Kuching.

Here goes:

SINGAPORE

ION Orchard Mall - spent quite some time there

 KOTA KINABALU

The Floating Mosque in KK where I got bitten by a swarm of mosquitoes in a record time of 5 minutes

The mozzie bites were worth it though! Too bad I didn’t bring my tripod for this shot.

View from a Shopping Centre in KK, spectacular!

Beach in KK

SAPI & MANUKAN ISLANDS, KK

We island-hopped with one of these boats

A young boy in the island letting me take his photo

DAMAI RESORT KUCHING

My camera got wet and a huge ant climbed on my camera after this shot

View outside our room :)

Found an interesting spot driving around after checking out

Found a beach in a village nearby

Awesome view but no one was there

One final look

All the photos above were taken without a tripod, so some photos in low light didn’t come out as expected. It was just too hard to carry around 6KG worth of gear in a backpack, so a tripod would only slow us down. I do hope you enjoyed this series, nonetheless :)

There are heaps of photos from the holiday which I would like to upload at some point, but I think these are the ones I will post up for now.

Have a great week ahead!

Happy New Year | Travel Photos | Penang & Malacca

The team at ChanRaymond Photography would like to extend our wish to one and all for a Happy New Year 2012! May this coming year be fruitful and filled with joy to you and your family :)

We are now back in Perth after spending three weeks around Malaysia & Singapore and I just can’t wait to share some photos taken during our travel, so here’s the first part of photos taken in Malaysia, namely from Penang & Malacca.

There is a combination of street photography and landscapes and some random photos of things I see during our travel, so there’s something for everyone here.

Enjoy!
