Karan + Snehal | Destination Wedding Photography | Pune, India

Karan and Snehal’s wedding blog post has been delayed for a while now as I have been swamped with work in the past month or so. Nevertheless, here are some of the highlights of the three-day long destination wedding photography in Pune, India.

Please enjoy the wedding photo slideshow below from my first international wedding photography job:

I’ll be trying to clear a backlog of posts in the coming weeks, so do expect to see some extra posts coming up and I would appreciate some feedback :)

More photos from the wedding can be found on my Facebook page. Here is the link to Karan and Snehal’s wedding photo album.

The couple has also recently wrote me a very thorough testimonial which can be found at the testimonials page. Here’s what they have to say about chanraymond photography:

“Choosing Raymond to cover our Wedding was one of the best decisions we made. We were quite confident about our choice early on as we had already seen what beautiful photos he clicks looking at his previous assignments. We were a little worried about his schedule though as this would be an international shoot, but our worries were put to rest as Raymond was very accommodating.

We were very impressed by his professionalism as he came to the venue on Day 1, straight after a fifteen hour flight to India! His photos captured the mood really well and not a single photograph looked rehearsed.

On Day 2 we had our pre-nup shoot early in the morning. Raymond chose to sacrifice his sleep in order to get the best possible light :-) He made us feel very comfortable and clicked some amazing shots. I plan to have my bedroom wall adorn one of these in poster size soon.

On Day 3, I remember him having blisters on his fingers as those D700?s he carries around are really heavy but that didn’t slow him down. It was the Haldi function and he captured all the right expressions, moods and cultural aspects despite of being in an unfamiliar environment.

Day 4 was the Wedding / Reception and Raymond delivered again capturing all the right stuff – from the makeup, the venue, friends having fun and emotional family moments. After it all ended he even had teasers up on his website and delivered the final result on time.

Raymond is a great person and an amazing photographer. Even though we have looked at the photo slideshow numerous times, it still puts a smile on our faces. Thank you Raymond for giving us something we will treasure for the rest of our lives!”

Karan + Snehal Teasers | Destination Wedding Photography | Pune, India

I recently had the privilege of documenting my first international wedding photography assignment in Pune, India.

Karan and Snehal’s wedding was a mixture of Maharashtrian & South Indian styled wedding and it was truly my honour to be able to document the wedding in the couple’s preferred photojournalistic style.

There are many genuine, beautiful moments captured over the course of 3 days, but here are a few for a start off!

So far, I have uploaded six photos as a sneak peek to my Facebook page, of which the responses has been amazing, so make sure to check out my Facebook page and “Like” it to be updated with more contents in the near future.

For now, here are some teasers that I’ve already put up but there’s a bonus photo which I have yet to put up so far!

Northbridge Chinese New Year Celebrations 2012

I decided to head down to Northbridge today to join in the 2012 Chinese New Year Celebrations. Unfortunately, I missed out on the lion dance, but there were a number of stalls selling food and gifts and plenty of performances on the stage at the Northbridge Piazza to keep me distracted.

There were easily hundreds of people of all races seating around the piazza, including the Lord Mayor Lisa Scafiddi and a number of VIPs.

Alright, here are some of my favourite photos from the evening with the rest to be up on my facebook page later tonight.

Enjoy:

Australia Day Fireworks Perth 2012

I just got back from South Perth Foreshore from the Australia Day Skyworks 2012. It was definitely an experience to remember as it was pouring during the fireworks. My gear was put to the test, including the newly bought 14-24, which survived the water test.

Many shots were unfortunately ruined due to the rain droplets on the lens, but here are my favourite four taken in the rain:

Happy Lunar New Year | Nikon 14-24mm Thoughts

I recently took the plunge and invested in the legendary Ultra-Wide Angle Nikon 14-24mm. I took delivery of the lens last weekend in the city and I haven’t taken it off my camera since.

My thoughts on the lens:

After about a couple of days shooting with the Nikon 14-24mm, I found that the focal range from 14-24mm is a tad too wide for all-round and street photography use for me, but it will be perfect for landscapes and weddings especially in cramped places such as hotel rooms.

Optically, the lens definitely lived up to its hype as the benchmark of all Ultra-Wide Angles and it has delivered a number of sharp photos up to the extreme corners from f4 onwards.

There has been a few misfocus but after a bit more play with the lens, it turned out to be mostly user error.

The distortion and vignetting is much worse than expected, especially at 14mm but definitely much better than the Sigma 10-20 which I had previously. It all comes down to careful framing and placement of your subjects in the viewfinder to avoid extreme distortion.

If you’re in the market for something in this range, another lens worth looking at is the Nikon 16-35mm f4 VR, which is also a very reputable pro-grade Ultra-Wide Angle.

On a side note, chanraymond photography wishes all clients, family, friends and loved ones a Happy Lunar New Year! Thank you all for your continuous support and I look forward to capturing more moments this year :)
