We (my friend and I) concluded that it was the angle/spot we had. The car was coming towards our direction at one point and then drifts into a corner, which at the point of drifting, IMO, is the sweet spot for panning since the car is facing us horizontally (and I did manage to get heaps of great shots at that point), but when the car is approaching us my body seem to have trouble with the AF. 

Or it could be just my hand. Or both.

And I think zooming in too close to the car defeats the purpose of capturing these shots, maybe a few but definitely not all the shots. I do want to be able to see that it&#039;s a GTR, or an EVO. Thanks for the link!</description>

There&#039;s this guy who takes some excellent photos of cars in motion. Lemme dig through my bookmarks.
