Visitor’s Parking Fee Increase
Seriously? That’s a 100 per cent increase and no more per day rate?
Before
Now
What were they thinking? How do the university expect students who do not purchase the permits (like me) be able to afford a parking ticket from 8am-4.15pm (for a whopping $16.50!)?
How is this going to bring more visitors to the university?
A suggestion to students without permit like me: Don’t pay for tickets. Instead, just park and if you do get a fine of $20, you’ll end up paying only $10 (after the 21 day 50 per cent discount) anyway.
You’re welcome.

be careful they don’t already raise up the fines together with the parking fee.
clems last blog post..Some Enchanted Evening at MPO
So, after 21 days there’s a 50% discount on fines?
That… doesn’t make sense.
@clem – lol perhaps I shouldn’t have blogged about it!
@cheahwey – If paid in 21 days, there’s a 50 per cent discount! How good is that? lol
Even better value to pick up a permit for $35 and avoid the hassles of tickets and fines altogether. It’s a pretty good deal

@Tammy Geddes – Tammy, I think you’re not getting the point of this post. What I’m trying to say is that it is the VISITOR’s parking fee that Murdoch Uni has increased, which is unnecessary even if it does not affect the students.
But after a little more Googling, I’ve found that even the student parking rates have increased these past few years, where FT RED permits increased by $12 and PT RED permits by $5. That’s still not as much as the 100% increase on the visitor’s parking, of course.
The $35 dollar permit that you mentioned is for part-time students only, and that’s only valid in green zone. Some students who are full-time (like me) who only have contact hours of less than 8 hours/week will find the $70 (green zone permit) redundant.
Still think it’s a good deal? Yeah, maybe to some. Thanks for the input though.
