Pathology

Pathology is a movie directed by Marc Schoelermann (whoever he is) and was released April this year in the UK. By mature, I mean anyone who can handle lots of violence and blood and sexual content. Drug use and obscene language are also present throughout the movie.

Pathology is rated 6/10 in IMDB as I type this (check link for plot), but I honestly think that it is underrated. I personally think that this is one heck of a great movie for horror/thriller junkies, with a strong plot and great, convincing performance by the cast.

With a total runtime of 93 sick minutes, I braced myself with the company of biscuits and corn chips in the freezing cold weather at three in the morning (I couldn’t sleep), watching how the medical students cut open bodies and kill their victims – and the movie somehow just managed to impress me.

I liked how I could not foresee how the ending will be and how the movie managed to make me think and kept my adrenaline level high. However, I must say that I did not quite like the fact that the movie seemed to have been fast-forwarded towards the end of the movie and it made me feel as though they (the director) were running out of film and managed to just squeeze the ending in, which was still, well done.

A note to purists of horror movies – this is not your typical horror movie where ghosts will jump out of the back dark alley to scare the bejesus out of you, but more towards movies like Saw.

Overall, I would say that the movie managed to deliver and is definitely one of the better horror/thriller movies out there. I give this movie 8/10 for its impressive plot and violence (and gore). In addition to that, I give this movie a 7/10 for its intensity of horror.
