The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian

Prince Caspian

Prince Caspian is a 140 minutes fantasy film which was adapted from C.S. Lewis’ children’s fantasy series, the Chronicles of Narnia. After having to watch the first film of the three, “the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”, I had expected a lot from this second film.

Unfortunately, I must have expected too much from the movie. The four protagonists in the movie, or should I refer to them as “kids”, are nothing more but “kids” to me. Their acting appeared weak in the movie, especially in the first half of the movie. They failed miserably to convince me that they are the legendary “Kings and Queens” in Narnia.

On the other hand, the special effects are commendable, and location-wise, it was pretty aptly chosen for the scenes. The opening scene somewhat reminded me of Harry Potter, probably due to its train effect.

In terms of the plot, I was taken for a surprise when there was actually a twist in the middle of the movie, as I was expecting something more straight-forward for a Disney movie. However, that twist was killed by its ending war sequence that was far too short, like as though the producers were trying to cut down on their production costs or something.

Overall, it was a fun movie to watch with your family and friends, especially if there’s a little one aged 12 and under.

L gives this movie a miserable 3/10 (though she seemed to love every single bit of the movie), while being the much generous me, I give Prince Caspian an average 6/10. This means you can choose to watch this only if you have nothing better to watch.
